A Mother’s Garden

On her shelves, tables, mantels and walls

There you will find framed photographs, photo albums, scrapbooks,

trophies, medals, certificates, momentums of achievement,

boxes of pictures not yet framed or hung

Captured moments in the evolution of time

Weddings, Graduations, Birthday Parties, celebrations

and life’s simply joyful times

In drawers and storage rooms

Old report cards, artwork, homemade Mother’s day, Birthday, Christmas day and Valentine Day cards and gifts, handwritten poems and notes of love and appreciation

She inhales and exhales,

and feels a great sense of accomplishment, love and gratitude

She says a prayer to express those emotions

Now this is a woman who has lived

She has planted her seeds and watched them grow

Now her garden is in full bloom

A rainbow of colors

An aromatic array of flowers

Sunflowers, Lilies, Daisies, Roses, Daffodils and more

Butterflies flitter and Bees buzz there

Lady Bugs and Caterpillars thrive there

The sun happily warms them up

The rain joyfully quenches their thirst

Passers by, captivated by this majestic place

Stop to smell its aroma and inhale its majesty

They think to themselves;

What must a Gardener do to accomplish such beauty?

She thinks to herself

Thank God, I followed your instruction

Thank God for the times I got on my knees and prayed

Thank God for sacrifices and unselfishness

Thank God for teaching me discipline, patience,

commitment and tender love

Thank God for guidance and protection from above

Thank God for faith, hope and vision

Thank God for your provision

Thank God you never let me gave up when times got tough

You give me the strength when things got rough

Your grace, love and forgiveness made me to know

I need not be perfect

When these seeds I sow

I just need to do the best I could do

In all things you would see my through

You did Lord and I know that I am blessed

Now our Garden’s a place of splendor and rest

Thank you, God
